What is SB 861? It's a law they are trying to pass in California for the ban of Pit Bulls. In other words, they want to ERADICATE Pits from Cali. And you know what that means? A mass murder of the breed.

If this law gets passed, just think about what can happen nation wide. Soon other states will follow suit, and pits will start becoming rare. The killing of all these dogs is cruel!

It's amazing how one group of bad people can effect everyone. PIT BULLS ARE NOT BAD DOGS JUST BECAUSE OF THEIR BREED! THEY ARENT EVIL MAN-EATERS! We need to STOP all this! Dont let the media get to your heads! The stories you hear about pits attacking people is hyped up. People raise these poor dogs to be mean. They dont have feelings about it other then, "My dog will tear anyone apart and thats awesome!" NO! People SHOULDNT think this way!

In all fairness, the beloved German Shepard breed has been known to turn on their owners. You never hear about it because the media and society in general see them as brave, helpful, couragous working dogs. And honestly, I have had more problems with little dogs being meaner then sin then a big dog. (Not saying they are mean, honestly I just think they get a bit to hyper and such.)

I have a Pit Mix. His name is Edward (A.K.A. Eddy.). People look at Eddy like he's a beast. They are scared of him. Even when I assure them over and over that Eddy will not eat their face or their first-born child, they still dont believe me. Eddy is the sweetest, most silly dope of a dog I have had the pleasure of raising. He's nothing but a big, lovable bundle of joy. And to think, he was formerly an abused pup.

Edward was brought to a shelter with a dead litter mate. (One of his brothers or sisters didnt make it.) Bolth were very emaciated and Eddy had an infection called Cherry Eye. (Cherry eye is where that membrane in the eye that looks like a third eye-lid swells up and turns bright red. It's painful.)That shelter wanted to have him put down from his condition. No one would ever want to take the time to nurse a sickly man-eater back to health, it seemed. But luckly there was hope for Eddy. A lady from a no-kill shelter took him and fixed him up. And I saw him at the PetCo all huddled up in the back of a kennel. And I fell in love with the poor thing.

And it took a lot of work and tears over this dog. I had to get him over his fear of people. I had to make sure he took his meds. (Puting a medication into an irritated, wriggling puppy's eye isnt fun.) And there was a time he got an infection in his lungs and I was stranded for a while without help or any way to get him to a vet. I fought tooth and nail to keep him healthy.

Now he's a year old. (Oct. 13th!) and a big strong, happy, sweet, silly dog.

SB 861 will take away dogs like Eddy. DONT LET THIS LAW PASS!
